(MIAMI, Oct. 20, 2014) – MDFR’s Extrication Team, also known as Team Blackheart, placed 6th overall and 3rd in the Rapid Evolution Category during the 2014 World Extrication Challenge held in Moreton-in-Marsh, England.

The Blackheart Team consists of eight volunteer members who are certified firefighters specially trained in the treatment and removal of victims trapped in complex or confined spaces such as collapsed structures and vehicles with extreme collision damage.

Created in 2012 by firefighters Richard A. Chung and Brandon Post, Team Blackheart previously competed three times in North American Vehicle Rescue Association (NAVRA) extrication sanctioned events.

When Team Blackheart completed in the 2013 World Rescue Challenge in Clearwater, FL, they placed 6th overall and were invited to be one of two teams representing the United States in the 2014 World Rescue Challenge. Seven of them were able to travel.
